Me

This is me trying to adopt an ageing Blues Guitarist pose.I have,nt succeeded, I just look like a miserable old grump.Believe me I can do Happy as well....

The History or Story Behind My Site
My interest in music started in the late fifties, early sixties, when, like thousands of lads, I was being influenced by Hank B Marvin ,trying my hand with a guitar. Unfortunately not a red strat but a cheap spanish finger - tip destroyer. With a Bert Weedon book and a few mates we formed a beat group playing Shadows and Beatles stuff. We gave a few unmemorable gigs before disbanding. I never forgot the few basic chords and licks but progressed no further.Until Xmas 98, when I had the yearning to play the guitar again {a nice hobby to take me into old age}. I asked my daughter Mandy to persuade my wife Gill to buy me a guitar for xmas.Anticipating the reply,(no more bloody guitars in this house} I told Mandy that Argos sold an Encore electric with headphone amp so the household would remain quiet. On Xmas morning I opened my present...BINGO...

I practised regularly with the headphones for a year and no one heard me.For Xmas 99 Gill bought me a s/h Yamaha FG400A accoustic and heard me play. The fact that She didn,t complain {apart from squeaky strings} was equivalent to a learners certificate from The Royal College of Music. For Xmas 2000 Gill bought me a Squier Affinity Strat,Xmas 2001 a Marshall Amp, so it can be said that my mania for all things guitar is encouraged by my wife Gill...

To see my guitars go to my Picture Gallery...

MY MUSIC
___________

I love to listen to blues music and I am influenced by Eric Clapton, John Mayall,Peter Green and Gary Moore. These men have played some fantastic blues licks over the years.

My guitar playing tends to be free form {jamming to drum patterns and chord progressions, e.g 12 bar,}.This way I can enjoy my playing relaxed and stress -free, not having to worry abouy mistakes As long as I keep within the scale I can hide the mistakes.
